Yeah, I really hope this turns out well. It certainly looks like they kept the darkness of the original, which is good.

Have you ever heard of "Rule 34"? It's a theory that basically says, anything you can imagine, there's a fetish and/or porn of it online. And so far I have yet to see an exception to the rule, to my everlasting horror. The Internet is a terrible place sometimes.

Glad you also liked the book, Brian! I still haven't checked out Ellis' comics, have you ever read any of them?

Thanks! I haven't read his Esquire articles, but I'll have to check them out - his recent review of Chinese Democracy blew my mind, it was so good.

You know, I really like Douglas Coupland, but I HATED jPod. I'm not sure why, it was pretty funny, and it felt like his usual writing style, but something about it just didn't sit right with me at all. I loved Hey Nostradamus! and Girlfriend in a Coma though.

Your post came up as a Wordpress "Possibly related post" in response to something I wrote about Klosterman, and I must say that I think your review of 'Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs' hit the nail on the head. Have you read many of his Esquire articles? They tend to be shorter than the essays for his book, but I really enjoy them as well... another Generation X author that you may like is Douglas Coupland -- I would recommend looking into 'jPod'.

I read this book over vacation and also found it an amazing read. One of the more interesting points of the book is that all of the stuff McGill goes through is "mainstream" because you can find it on the Internet. I would not necessarily agree that every corner of the Internet is seen by a large number of people, but the idea of things people do that don't even make it that far is great material for the wandering mind.

Dean's President is black, of Jamaican descent, served in the military, and of a different party than him. Very clearly Powell (Obama is alluded to as an alternate choice to Dean). I wonder who the ailing president was that Powell took over from, though. Another Republican, at any rate.
